In the Ondo operation, the Nigerian Army eliminates two suspected terrorists and recovers one AK-47.

During a tactical operation in Ondo State, the Nigerian Army neutralized two suspected armed terrorists and retrieved firearms.

Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade stationed at the Forward Operating Base Auga conducted the operation along the Akunu–Auga Road on February 14, 2026, according to a statement made by Major Irabor Njoka, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations.

Regarding the movement of suspected criminals in the area, the forces took action based on reliable human intelligence.

“They quickly mobilized and intercepted the suspects,” the statement said.

Local vigilantes and members of the Ondo State Security Network Agency collaborated on the operation.

“An AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three cell phones, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected illegal drugs, charms, and ₦39,000, among other personal effects, were recovered from the encounter with the criminals.”

According to the Brigade, the operation demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s determination to prevent criminal elements from moving freely and to defend people and property in Ondo State.

In order to maintain security in the state, it further stated that forces will continue their clearance and exploitation operations, step up patrols along known criminal pathways, and improve cooperation with other security organizations and regional partners.

The Army called on the public to keep supplying accurate and timely intelligence, emphasizing that efforts to purge the state of criminal elements still depend heavily on public assistance.
