Leading financial company Flutterwave hosted its first Gala Night on Tuesday to commemorate its tenth anniversary, bringing together prominent African business and political figures at The Delborough Lagos.
The high-profile event, which took place on February 11, 2026, attracted a number of luminaries from all over the continent, transforming the opulent location into a center for elite meetings.
Former Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu were among those present.
Dr. Cosmas Maduka, the founder of the Coscharis Group, Ernest Ndukwe, the chairman of the MTN Nigeria board of directors, and Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, the founder and CEO of the Stanel Group and The Delborough Lagos, were also in attendance.
Along with other prominent people from a variety of industries, the event also drew entertainment icons such as singer Tiwa Savage, actress Omotola Jalade, and former Big Brother Naija housemates Dorathy and Erica.

Olugbenga Agboola, the founder and CEO of Flutterwave, characterized the gala as a celebration of quality, innovation, and enterprise growth in his speech.
Agboola claimed that he founded the business in 2016 because of the difficulties and hold-ups involved in making cross-border online payments within Africa.
He claims that before the company’s founding, electronic money transfers between African nations were difficult. He points out that it used to be simpler to transport cash by air from Lagos to Accra rather than completing a smooth online transfer because these transactions frequently had to go via New York before arriving in Ghana.
In separate expressions of gratitude, Obasanjo, Koroma, Sanwo-Olu, Maduka, and other dignitaries commended Agboola for bringing Nigeria and Africa to the forefront of financial technology and commended his tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit.
