No nation can survive without investment in youths — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has remarked that no nation could prosper without purposeful investment in its youths.

According to the President, who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id-Ahmad, Nigerians should not lack quality education owing to financial limits.

Tinubu made the disclosure at the 34th Convocation ceremony and 43rd Founders Day of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, on Sunday.

The President highlighted that over the previous 43 years, the university had distinguished itself as a centre of distinction in science, engineering innovation and applied research.

He claimed that by implementing the student loan program and making targeted infrastructure improvements, the administration had increased access to education.

Prof. Farouk Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said the ceremony serves as a significant affirmation of the university community.

Resilience, inventiveness, and an enduring commitment to knowledge growth and humanitarian service, he said, characterized the community.

According to Kuta, the university made remarkable strides in the last year, becoming the top-ranked specialized university and the seventh-best university in Nigeria.

According to him, the university was ranked 68th in Africa and within the top 10 in Nigeria.

He emphasized that the strategic expansion of the institution was a critical step toward realizing its goal as a technology-driven university committed to tackling societal concerns.

He went on to say that this was especially true for the nation’s medical technologists and healthcare professionals.

The school is still dedicated to the welfare and merit of both academic and non-academic staff, he said.

“Over 146 senior non-teaching staff and 110 junior staff were promoted, while the appointments of 22 staff were confirmed. ”He said, “The school clinic and sports complex were renovated in order to create an enabling environment.”

The V-C advised the graduates to recognize their transformation from learners to alumni and solution providers.

The institution’s Pro- Chancellor and Chairman of the governing council, Dr Mohammed Santuraki, complimented the President on his reforms in enhancing steady growth.

He said he aligns with the Tinubu administration in ensuring national progress.

Santuraki also expressed gratitude to Nigerian Governor Umar Bago for contributing N100 million to the building of a hostel for female medical students.

Along with praising the V-C’s visionary leadership and careful resource management, he urged the graduating students to represent the university well in their professional lives.

Koter Oluwadamilola, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering’s overall top graduating student, said the occasion was a monument to the tenacity, faith, and solidarity that got them through the ordeal.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the university graduated 5,297 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
