Korede Bello discusses her Christian faith and says, “Jesus is no longer on the cross.”

Written by Enitan Abdultawab

Singer Korede Bello has talked candidly about his Christian beliefs, offering perspectives on Christ’s resurrection and his own conversion from Islam to Christianity.

Bello emphasized that Christ’s sacrifice is accomplished in a new Instagram video, challenging the obsession with Jesus’ crucifixion.

Does Jesus still deserve to be crucified? Know that I am a Christian and that Christ has already died on my behalf before you crucify me. That is unnecessary because he has already been crucified. Never once did Jesus say, “Remember me on the cross.” Do I mean that the cross is unimportant? “No,” he explained.

The artist clarified that his realization that Jesus is now sitting next to God the Father rather than on the cross occurred during a time of prayer.

He’s no longer on the cross, I realized while I was praying and gazing at it. I picture myself sitting close to the Father when I think of Jesus. I’m there,” Bello remarked.

Citing the apostle Paul, he emphasized that the resurrection is essential to the Christian faith, saying, “If Christ has not risen, then your faith is futile.”

Bello also said that he was reared as a Muslim but converted to Christianity after independently studying the Bible. “I wasn’t a Christian at birth. I was a Muslim from birth. He said, “I had to start with the Bible myself—not for religious reasons, but for personal reasons.”

The artist worried that a lot of Christians are still too preoccupied with the crucifixion instead of the rising Christ. Christ, who has risen and is standing next to the Father, is the source of our identity and faith. When we pray, we do so via a person who is neither here on Earth nor on the tree. Our sins were carried on the cross; we no longer have that identity. He remarked, “Remaining there is like repeatedly nailing Christ.”

Recalling Jesus’ instruction that “People will know you’re my followers by the love you have for each other,” Bello urged Christians to prioritize love as the fundamental hallmark of Christian identity.

Additionally, he emphasized that communion is the genuine act of recollection, commemorating Christ’s victory and sacrifice.
