Early on Tuesday, suspected terrorists raided Madagali, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, and abducted six family members.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police command spokesperson, revealed this in a statement released on Tuesday morning.
A combined police and military rescue squad is in the region looking for the kidnapped family members, according to Nguroje.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, in the early hours of today by suspected terrorists, which led to the abduction of six (6) family members and the rustling of livestock,” the statement says.
“The Nigeria Police Force, Troops of 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) participated in a joint operation to the affected area and surrounding communities as soon as the Command received the report, intensifying collaboration and deploying additional personnel and operational assets.”
The statement claims that in order to guarantee the victims’ safe return and prevent future threats, Adamawa State Command Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris has increased security presence throughout Madagali and other border communities, strengthened patrols, and directed ongoing search-and-rescue operations.
“The Command, in cooperation with the Nigerian Army and other sister security agencies, remains fully committed to protecting lives and properties across the State,” said Nguroje.
“More information will be shared.”
Fintiri started a tour of the state’s 21 local governments on Tuesday in order to evaluate the security conditions and other problems that the local population is facing.
A recent attack on the Hong Local Government resulted in the destruction of homes and the deaths of twelve persons.
Over 20 people lost their life in the early-year communal conflict between the Bachaman and Chobo groups in Lamurde Local Government Area, Adamawa state.
