Abuja — With the ongoing building of the 1,068-kilometer Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, a project intended to improve national integration, trade, and security, the Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to provide safe, long-lasting, and economically transformative road infrastructure.

The roadway will be outfitted with street lights and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance systems to guarantee the safety of drivers and communities along the corridor.

Mohammed Ahmed, the Ministry of Works’ Director of Press and Public Relations, cited the Federal Controller of Works in Sokoto State, Engr. During a site inspection, Kasimu Maigwandu gave a summary of the project.

According to Maigwandu, the highway starts at the Nigeria-Niger border in Illela in Sokoto State, travels through the states of Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara, and ends in Badagry in Lagos State. He characterized the project as one of Nigeria’s most economically significant infrastructure expenditures, with the goal of facilitating the smooth flow of people, products, and services both inside the country and with its neighbors, including Niger and the Benin Republic.

At several sites, including Katami, Silame, Gande, Bunkari, Gada, Madi, and Illela, construction is moving along steadily. To guarantee longevity and improved safety, contemporary methods are being used, such as integrated solar-powered street lighting and Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP).

Mr. Joharn Fohan Foucice, the project manager for Hitech Construction Company Limited, assured the public that work is going well and reassured them of the contractor’s dedication to timely delivery and high-quality work.
