Former DSS DG Daura: “Why I entered politics”

Alhaji Lawal Daura, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), has referred to himself as a “politics mechanic” who entered politics in order to prevent insecurity and save lives in Katsina State.

At a reunion of the Government College Funtua Old Boys Association (FOBA), Class of 1969, Daura made this statement on Thursday in Katsina to reiterate the group’s support for his 2027 bid for governor.

“After hearing my brief interview in which I described myself as a politics mechanic, many people called me to confirm,” he stated.

“You can tell there’s a problem if you see a mechanic using his instruments.

We’ve all been impacted by the issue that exists in our beloved state.

“Security is a constant topic of discussion since it holds the key to unlocking other issues.

“You can’t use the keys to solve other issues if you didn’t get that key.”

Daura added, “But today, some of the markets can’t operate even in the daytime,” recalling that a few years ago, some marketplaces in the state were open at night.

And we are aware that the state’s economy, as well as those of its neighboring states, is based on agricultural. However, insecurity has harmed farming today.

We entered politics for this reason. Since my job was more important than that of a governor, it has nothing to do with leadership.

“Even outside of the nation, I have gained recognition.” If money is the problem, what should I do with it right now?

He says, “You hear things like a tale, but it is true; they are happening,” and that it is a matter of preserving lives and saving the state.

“Human rights violations everywhere, including in their homes and on the road.” These are the reasons I became involved in politics.

“I am pleased that my coworkers supported me even before the voyage began.

“We will try our hardest and succeed with Allah’s help, but we won’t tell a story.”

Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Yahaya, the FOBA Chairman, stated that Daura, as a security specialist, could quickly resolve the issue if given the chance.

Yahaya promised that if his colleague won the gubernatorial ticket from any political party, each member would provide hundreds of votes for him. (NAN)
