If Tottenham is demoted from the Premier League, they will lose £261 million.

If Tottenham Hotspur is demoted from the Premier League this year, they might lose up to £261 million.

Spurs are just one point above the relegation zone with ten Premier League games left, and they are under increasing pressure to get enough wins to stay out of the EFL Championship.

One of the richest teams in English football is still the North London team. Tottenham ranked tenth among European teams with around £690 million in income in 2025, according to UEFA’s European club finance and investment landscape report.

Relegation, however, would drastically reduce that revenue. According to a BBC Sport analysis, the club might lose up to £261 million in earnings.

One of the areas most impacted would be matchday revenue. In 2025, Tottenham’s ticket sales brought in £130 million, the fifth-highest amount in Europe. Only five teams on the continent charge more than the average of £76 per home game at the club’s stadium.

In the Championship, when games against less well-known teams like Lincoln City would draw less interest, the squad could find it difficult to keep such pricing. Overall matchday earnings may also be impacted by a decline in attendance.

If the Spurs were to exit the Premier League, broadcast revenue would likewise drastically decline. The league’s clubs make a substantial amount of money from its domestic and international television contracts. Ipswich Town, a promoted team, made more money from broadcasts last season than FC Barcelona of Spain.

If Tottenham doesn’t win this season and qualify for the tournament the next year, they will also lose out on Champions League television revenue.

Additionally, commercial revenue may decrease. Last year, Spurs recorded a club-high £269 million in revenue thanks to sponsorship agreements with Nike and AIA totaling over £70 million each year. Both contracts contain provisions that lower their worth in the event that the team is demoted.

Tottenham’s capacity to hold concerts and other events at their stadium may be impacted by playing more Championship home games.
