As contract negotiations approach, the NFF responds to Eric Chelle’s 19-point demands.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle made a number of new proposals, which the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said surprised them. However, the NFF insisted that some of the provisions Chelle is requesting are already in place.

With one year remaining on his current contract, Eric Chelle allegedly presented a comprehensive 19-point proposal last week detailing the terms under which he would continue to lead the national team. In Nigerian football circles, the requests have sparked discussion, especially considering the financial challenges the game faces.

The main demands include a $130,000 monthly compensation. Concerning mobility and personal safety, it is also said that the coach requested a private SUV with a chauffeur and specialized protection.

Chelle also apparently wants a well equipped office with a projector for tactical sessions, a 24-hour electrical supply, and dependable internet access to assist contemporary coaching operations.

However, the federation has acted quickly to refute claims that the coach lacks essential supplies.

NFF Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Sanusi denied allegations that Chelle lacks basic amenities in an interview with The Guardian.

“Chelle has a car, a driver, and lodging,” Sanusi stated.

Sources inside the federation confirmed that the suggestions are being reviewed internally, however he declined to elaborate on the other requests. One alleged sticking point is the pay raise in particular.

Remember that Chelle’s existing contract is still in effect for another year. A source close to the NFF told The Guardian, “These are new demands to be considered for renewal, which is still up for debate, especially with these terms.”

“The technical committee will review this before submitting it to the board for approval.”

Before any recommendations are presented to the NFF board, the issue is anticipated to be debated at the technical committee level. Administrators are eager to find a solution without causing any disruptions to the team, especially because the Super Eagles have important games later in the season.

Although no official decision has been made, there are also hints that the federation is considering options for coaching roles among several national teams.
