In addition to expressing sympathy to the victims’ relatives and the local community, the PDP cited local officials’ assertions that indications of an imminent attack had been issued without what it called sufficient preventive measures.
The party claims that the reaction to the incident was “weak and reactive,” underscoring the necessity of a comprehensive assessment of local security measures.
The opposition party called for the creation of an impartial panel to look into the executions’ circumstances, particularly the purported inaction on early warnings. Additionally, it demanded that surviving and displaced people in the Woro village receive emergency medical attention, humanitarian aid, and temporary housing.
In order to guarantee that credible threats are immediately addressed, the PDP further recommended the Federal Government to invest in community-based early warning systems and call an emergency national security conference with important stakeholders.
The party reiterated its previous stance on combating insecurity and advocated for a “whole-of-society approach,” which includes regular public security briefings, better intelligence sharing between federal and state security agencies, state policing, and economic development in impacted areas.
The PDP said that such actions were now required, claiming that what it called “ad hoc and reactionary responses” had led to ongoing fatalities.
The statement went on to say that “the protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government,” and it urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to give immediate attention to the nation’s security issues.
