Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made fun of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for denouncing the polls in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
During an appearance on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” on Tuesday, Basiru expressed his opinion that the ADC is regretting the FCT elections because their candidate was a complete failure.
He emphasized that while the APC is making every effort to organize, mobilize, establish structure, and plan ahead, others are eating groundnuts in marketplaces and performing plays, emphasizing that this is not politics.
People frequently turn to comedians because they are involved in politics.
“They continue to claim that the elections were not free and fair because their candidates lost miserably, even though we just had an election two weeks ago.
“We witnessed them claiming prior to the election that the FCT polls will serve as a marker for the 2027 election. They are unable to secure one of the 62 councilorship seats. They are unable to secure one of the six chairperson seats.
“The APC won two bye-elections in the states of Rivers and Kano on the same day,” he stated.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won a majority of seats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections thanks to President Bola Tinubu’s orders, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won a majority of seats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections thanks to President Bola Tinubu’s orders, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Remember that in the FCT Area Council elections on February 21, 2026, the APC won five of the six chairmanship posts.
During his first monthly media parley for 2026 in Abuja, Wike discussed the development and gave an explanation for the APC’s victory.
He claims that Tinubu gave him instructions to go to satellite communities and make sure they experienced the effects of governance.
He claimed that the party’s emphasis on satellite towns as opposed to the metropolitan center was the crucial element.
“Let’s tell ourselves the simple truth,” stated Wike. If we had only concentrated on the city, who would have defeated Asiwaju’s administration in this FCT election? The city’s residents talk a lot but never cast ballots, which has made it difficult for the reigning parties to win throughout the years.
Wike emphasized the significance of expanding administration beyond the metropolis and said that he was personally appointed as a minister when President Tinubu took office.
“The President stated that we must visit the satellite towns and allow people to see the effects of government.
And that’s what we did. You can observe how content people are when you visit places like Karu, Kabusa, and Wasa. Voters turned out in large numbers there, he claimed.
The minister also emphasized the distinctions between city dwellers and those who live in satellite towns.
“Where did people fail to emerge? They are all located inside the city. However, many cast ballots and voiced their opinions after we arrived in the satellite towns. The APC was able to win the majority of seats because of this,” he continued.
