Due to security concerns related to possible protests in the Federal Capital Territory, the US Embassy in Nigeria has canceled all visa appointments planned for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Abuja.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the embassy explained that the action was made to protect both applicants and employees.
The statement read, “The U.S. Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, due to the potential for protests in Abuja.”
The embassy emphasized that the precautionary measure was required given the changing circumstances in Abuja, but it did not disclose any information regarding the scheduled protests.
The embassy claims that applicants impacted by the cancelation will be informed and given guidance on how to reschedule their interviews.
The public was also urged by officials to keep an eye on updates via the embassy’s official website and social media accounts.
The embassy provided a dedicated line for urgent assistance, advising visa applicants and United States citizens in Nigeria requiring emergency help to contact the embassy via +234 209 461 4328 or visit the official website.
The statement said, “We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.”
