Stella Oduah, a former minister of aviation, and another person accused of N2.5 billion fraud in an Abuja High Court on Thursday decided to enter into a plea agreement.
The prosecution team’s leader, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that the defendants had requested a plea deal from the AGF.
“They have taken steps to return a specific sum of money to the government’s coffers.
Oyedepo said the court, “What is left is the confirmation of receipt of the bank draft by the government.”
Oduah’s attorney, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, corroborated the prosecution’s attorney.
The second defendant’s attorney, Favour Osuanya, likewise verified the plea agreement.
According to NAN, Oyedepo told the court on February 12 that the motion complied with Section 270 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
Oyedepo further informed the court that the application is still being discussed and requested a specific date for the report or trial.
The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation arraigned Oduah and Gloria Odita in December 2025 on a five-count complaint that included allegations of fraud, acquiring by false pretence, and criminal breach of trust.
The prosecution claimed that the defendants used Global Offshore Marine Ltd. and Broad Waters Resources Nigeria Ltd. to make false statements in order to obtain N2.4 billion from the Federal Ministry of Aviation.
According to the prosecution, the offense is punished under Section 1(3) and violates Sections 8(a) and 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud Act.
However, the defendants entered a not guilty plea to the accusations that were brought against them.
