Okpebholo campaigns against drug addiction and cultism in secondary schools.

Sen. Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, said that secondary schools were a breeding ground for recruitment into the evil activities and on Wednesday, he brought his administration’s anti-cultism and anti-drug addiction efforts to these institutions.

According to the governor, secondary schools in each of the three senatorial districts would host the campaign.

Distributing anti-cultism leaflets, holding sensitization lectures, and interacting directly with students were all part of the effort.

Speaking through his Principal Security Officer, Austin Eigbiremolen, Governor Okpebholo told pupils at the Edo Boys High School, Ihogbe College, and Akenzua Secondary School that Ihogbe College had a history of cultism.

He reminded the kids that he has strict regulations against corruption, cultism, drug misuse, and other vices since his administration has no tolerance for them.

Amiolemen Idemudia, the coordinator of the Special Security Squad, advised the kids not to fall for cult recruitment tactics from their buddies.

“Where cultism exists, you have retrogression,” he said. Avoid involvement in cult activities. Tell your pal it’s not good if they tried to get you to do it.

Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a former member of the House of Representatives, urged students to choose life over violence, hope over fear, and progress over destruction. He said that parents, community leaders, religious institutions, and young people must work together to combat cultism.

“To safeguard our neighborhoods, ensure the future, and create a safer Edo for future generations, you must band together.

“Cultism cannot be tolerated. The option is peace. Cultism does not lead to success, respect, or power. It is a route to ruin, incarceration, and premature demise.

Ihogbe College has developed into a sophisticated institution with excellent pupils, according to Dr. Felix Ighodaro, the college’s principal.

He claimed that in terms of reducing cultism in Edo State, the sensitization was headed in the correct route.

Mrs. Christiana Ebewele, the principal of Edo Boys High School, praised the effort and stated that it had to be implemented in all other schools in the state.

While encouraging his peers to succumb to temptation, Oghenerukevwe David, the school’s Senior Prefect, stated, “They bully and tell us just join us, and then they will start luring us.” He urged his fellow pupils to avoid falling for the tricks.
