In a series of well-planned attacks against criminal networks on January 21 and 22, soldiers from Operation FANSAN YAMMA Joint Task Force for the North West neutralized a terrorist and destroyed a covert medical facility.
This was revealed in a statement released late Thursday on the Nigerian Army’s official X Twitter and signed by Captain David Adewusi, the operation’s media information officer.
The statement claims that during a fighting patrol in Sokoto State with the Department of State Services, members of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force killed one terrorist while others escaped with bullet wounds.
“In Gundumi Village, Isa Local Government Area, terrorists were confronted by troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force and DSS assets on fighting patrol.
One of the terrorists was neutralized by the army during the encounter, while the others ran into the forest after being shot. Three motorcycles and six AK-47 weapons were found by the troops, according to a portion of the statement.

Troops from the Headquarters JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team and the 1 Brigade allegedly targeted a hideaway in the Bingi Forest in a different operation.
The forces were said to have found and demolished a temporary medical facility in response to reliable allegations that injured terrorists were receiving covert care nearby.
“Troops from 1 Brigade, along with Headquarters JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, swiftly acted on credible intelligence that injured terrorists were receiving treatment in Bingi Forest,” the statement continued.
“The troops dealt a serious blow to the terrorists’ support system and demonstrated the troops’ effective operational response by finding and destroying a makeshift medical facility of the terrorists.”

In the statement, Captain Adewusi reaffirmed Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s “unwavering determination and responsiveness” to severely undermine terrorist networks and bring peace and security back to the North West.
According to a PUNCH Online report on Thursday, forces from Operation Hadin Kai similarly prevented a Boko Haram ambush, neutralizing ten terrorists along the Sambisa and Mandara Mountains axis of Borno state, including two of their senior commanders, Basulhu and Ubaida.
