SOKOTO: In renewed efforts to restore security throughout the area and the nation as a whole, troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have achieved significant operational victories, neutralizing terrorists in Kebbi State and freeing dozens of kidnapped victims in Zamfara State.
Members of the Lakurawa terrorist organization were ambushed by Sector 2 troops in Kebbi State in the Augie Local Government Area, which is close to the Kebbi–Sokoto border, based on reliable intelligence.
Kerani Village, a vital passageway frequently used by criminal organizations, was the site of the operation.
Two terrorists were neutralized during the incident, and two motorcycles used for transportation and logistics were found.

According to reports, the motorcycles were equipped with long-distance mobility attachments, showing the group’s intention to continue engaging in cross-border criminal activities.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out in cooperation with local vigilante groups and allied security agencies, illustrating the increasing cooperation between conventional troops and community-based security institutions in the North West.
Troops attacked Munhaye Forest, a reputed refuge of infamous bandit leader Kachalla Alti, in a different but equally successful operation in Zamfara State after learning that other hostages were being held there.
62 abducted victims were successfully rescued as a result of the operation, and they are now in secure care. Following the required medical assistance and profiling, military authorities reported that plans are in place to reunite the released captives with their family.
As part of a larger national effort to weaken criminal strongholds, secure rural communities, and rebuild public trust, the most recent operations demonstrate the persistent pressure being applied by Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and bandit networks.
While encouraging civilians to continue supplying timely and reliable information to help current security measures nationally, military officials reiterated their commitment to collaborating with other security agencies and local partners to guarantee enduring peace.
