Gunmen storm a community in Abuja and kidnap 16 People in a Nighttime Raid

The Peze settlement in the Byazhi neighborhood of Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has been overrun by heavily armed militants.

Sahara Reporters reports that the attackers kidnapped at least sixteen locals, including a local vigilante commander’s wife, her younger sister, and four of a pastor’s children.

Between 9:30 and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the heavily armed gunmen moved from house to house, trying to break into homes.

Before beginning the operation, the attackers had previously gathered in an unfinished building across from his home, according to a resident who talked with the aforementioned website.

In fact, they visited my home on Tuesday. From the window, one of my neighbors was observing them. They were unaware that someone was watching them since they had congregated in an unfinished building across from my house.

“They started banging on my door and moving around the house, shouting to see if anyone would react. They shatter the window to get in once you react, according to the resident.

The resident said that when residents refused to open their doors, the gunmen threatened to kill them.

He said, “They will threaten to kill everyone inside if you don’t open the door by breaking in through the window.”

The insider clarified that once the kidnappers were unable to enter his home, they proceeded to nearby residences and eventually kidnapped multiple occupants.

“They abducted sixteen individuals in all,” he continued.

Four children of a local preacher were among the victims. The pastor was not home when the attackers attacked, according to the resident.

The pastor informed me that he had taken a quick break when I later visited his home. People began alerting him to the presence of kidnappers in the neighborhood before he could return. Only the smallest child remained when he hurried back home and found that four of his children had been abducted, according to the source.

The family of a vigilante commander who had been helping the neighborhood fend off kidnappers was also impacted by the attack.

According to the source, the commander had just left his home at around ten o’clock at night when a neighbor called to warn him that armed men had broken into the neighborhood.

The resident stated, “He had just left his house when his neighbor called and said the attackers had entered one of the nearby houses.”

He clarified that, not realizing that the shooters had already encircled his own home, the commander hurried to the spot the neighbor had described.

According to the source, “He ran to the place they mentioned, not knowing they had already surrounded his house.”

The resident claims that as the vigilante leader tried to return home, the attackers blocked him on the road and started shooting.

Later, the gunmen broke into his home and kidnapped his wife and her younger sister, who had supposedly visited the family three days prior.

According to locals, the abductors abandoned the newborn child after the wife gave birth less than 40 days prior.

The source continued, “They even ate the food she had been cooking before abducting her.”

The resident clarified that when security personnel eventually showed there, the abductors had already fled with their victims.

He continued by saying that the kidnappers then got in touch with the families and demanded a ransom to free the kidnapped individuals.
