With the purchase of an Embraer 195, Enugu Air, run by XEJET, has taken a significant step toward providing safe, dependable, and effective air transport services.
In a statement, the airline expressed gratitude for Governor Peter Mbah’s vision and assistance, saying that “his commitment to aviation development continues to strengthen connectivity and economic growth in the region.”
The milestone, according to the statement, is another step forward for the airline as it continues to establish itself as a reliable airline for its customers.
On July 7, 2025, Enugu Air formally began operating out of Enugu’s Akanu Ibiam International Airport, initially linking the state with Abuja and Lagos.
The state-owned airline started out with three Embraer aircraft (E170/E190) but has not yet obtained its Air Operator Certificate, or AOC.
“Today, we have our own airline,” Mbah stated during the formal launch ceremony. And by doing so, we’re gaining access to an industry that previously seemed unattainable. We take that maiden flight together today thanks to Enugu Air, which has given our ambitions additional wings.
“A huge step forward for Enugu State, a model for public-private collaboration.” But we must always remember to give credit where credit is due, even in the moment’s exuberance.
“XE Jet Airlines, our selected operator, is a fully Nigerian-owned company with a strong track record of dependable, long-lasting, and prosperous aviation operations.”
