Victor Osimhen, a striker for Galatasaray, is allegedly high on Real Madrid’s summer shortlist as the team gets closer to selecting Jose Mourinho as their next head coach.
According to Naija News, the Portuguese manager has already named the Nigerian international as the forward he wants to lead his attack, and the Spanish powerhouses are getting ready for a significant reconstruction following a tumultuous season.
Osimhen has long been a favorite of Mourinho’s. When Mourinho was the manager of AS Roma and the striker was at Napoli, they first met in Serie A. In the past, he compared Osimhen to Didier Drogba, the formidable forward he signed while at Chelsea.
Osimhen’s arrival, according to Madrid, would enable Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., who are both regarded as the most dangerous players, to play wide positions permanently.
In the meantime, negotiations are taking on over Mourinho’s possible return to Real Madrid. Before accepting the position, the coach reportedly stated two important requirements.
His longtime agent Jorge Mendes has made initial contact with Madrid’s management, but it is anticipated that talks won’t pick up steam until the domestic seasons in Spain and Portugal are over. Currently leading Benfica, Mourinho is reportedly open to returning to the Bernabeu.
His first request relates to recruitment influence. When it comes to pointing out areas that need improvement, Mourinho wants a strong voice. He was instrumental in the entrance of Luka Modric, Mesut Ozil, and Sami Khedira during his initial tenure in Madrid. If he returns, he anticipates having the same authority.
The internal organization of the club is the subject of the second requirement. Mourinho desires minimum influence from outside the dressing room and complete respect for the autonomy of the coaching staff. The position comes after conflicts between former coach Xabi Alonso and Vinicius Jr. this season.
