Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has aligned with former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, over his remark regarding the defection of ex-presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Naija News, Peter Obi and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) 2023 presidential candidate abandoned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in favor of the NDC.
In response to the news, Babachir Lawal stated in an appearance on ARISE Television’s “Prime Time” program that Peter Obi prefers a consensus over primaries.
“A politician who fears elections has no business being one,” he declared. Peter Obi prefers a consensus candidate, and he must be that consensus. He does not wish to run in the primaries.
Onanuga responded to the statement by saying that Babachir Lawal has come to the conclusion that Peter Obi is an extremely self-centered politician.
Onanuga claims that Peter wants to go where others have worked hard to establish the political party.
“The scales have now fallen from the eyes of Babachir Lawal, a 2023 supporter of Peter Obi,” he declared. He now understands that Obi, who fears primaries, wants a consensus that serves his own interests—a belief that seems to be embedded in his very being.
It is known as “Me only, nobody else” or “I before anybody else” in colloquial language. Obi is an extremely self-centered politician. He is unable to form a political party. He pulls the largest piece of beef from the pot and goes to where others have labored to prepare the soup. This era’s Gbajue politician!
