Saleh Zazzaga, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has attributed the rise in killings in Plateau State to the opposition.
According to Naija News, the Palm Sunday attack at Gariya Waye, Angwan Rukuba community, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, claimed the lives of about 28 people.
A full-blown breakdown of law and order was feared as a result of the episode, which signaled a revival of homicides in the state.
Zazzaga, the chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, discussed the situation in a statement made available to journalists on Monday. He claimed that the killings are intended to undermine Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang and prevent President Bola Tinubu from winning reelection.
Additionally, he connected those who opposed Muftwang’s APC defection to the insecurity in Plateau State.
Zazzaga claimed that the ongoing killings in Plateau and Benue states are intended to lower Tinubu’s vote total in the upcoming election, despite pointing out that the North-Central had promised Tinubu six million votes in 2027.
“The ongoing killings and attacks in Plateau State are politically motivated,” he declared. Opposition politicians who wish to sabotage Mr. President’s reelection in the 2027 elections are responsible for these killings. Knowing full well that they are powerless to prevent Governor Caleb Muftwang’s reelection, these individuals also wish to tarnish him.
They have chosen to support violence in order to stop Mr. President from receiving 100% of the votes from Plateau State because they are aware that this is likely due to Governor Muftwang’s defection to the APC.
These people have chosen to fund violent assaults and murders in vulnerable neighborhoods in order to give the impression that the administration is failing. They are carrying out mass murders in order to lower the number of Native Americans and, thus, lower the number of votes that Mr. President will receive in the upcoming election, as they are aware that the Native Americans support Mr. President and the governor.
