Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has expressed regret and acknowledged responsibility for the late red card he received on March 31 during Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly tie with Jordan.
When Amer Jamous pulled him back during the match in Turkey, Iwobi became enraged and was sent off.
The former player for Arsenal took responsibility for the event in an interview with the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast.
“I must take responsibility for my actions and express my regret to all of my Nigerian colleagues, employees, and supporters of Nigeria. Iwobi said, “I was sent off because my actions were not good enough.”
But I’ll take this as a lesson and keep going. We will focus on the good aspects of the draw because we did not lose.
Iwobi pointed out two new defenders who made an impression on their debut for the Nigerian Super Eagles, highlighting the good aspects of the international break despite the dismissal.
Chibuike Nwaiwu and Emmanuel Fernandez both played in the second half of Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly victory over Iran in Antalya.
Coach Eric Chelle’s team won thanks to goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams.
Iwobi remarked, “Nice to get the win,” after the game. Iran deserves praise for being a strong, competitive team.
“Well done; we achieved the two objectives we required. A special thanks to the two center backs who made their debuts in the second half.
“They performed admirably. The performance was excellent. We feel more confident now that we’ve won.
