Prior to the Eid-el-Fitr festival, the Sokoto State Government has authorized the early payment of March salary to state employees.
According to Naija News, Governor Ahmed Aliyu approved the payment to start on Friday, March 13, 2026, so that employees can take care of themselves during the holiday season.
Abubakar Bawa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Government House in Sokoto, announced the development in a statement.
The payment would cover retirees throughout the state, employees of the Local Government Education Authority, employees of local government councils, and members of the state civil service, according to the announcement.
In order to assist the government’s efforts, the governor also urged civil servants to continue being accountable and dedicated in their work.
He stated that employees should perform their duties in their respective offices with honesty, diligence, dedication, and punctuality.
He clarified that civil servants are crucial to the government’s ability to carry out its development ambitions.
These initiatives are a part of his administration’s Nine-Point Smart Innovative Agenda, which aims to strengthen the state’s economy and improve people’s quality of life.
The statement further stated that since taking office, the current administration has continued to pay employees’ salaries on schedule and has taken action to settle unpaid gratuities from the previous administration.
Additionally, pension payments have been made on a monthly basis.
In order to assist ministries, departments, and agencies in carrying out their responsibilities efficiently, the government has also reinstated monthly imprest.
