Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is free to back whatever candidate he wants, according to Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made this claim in an interview on Monday’s “The Morning Brief” on Channels Television.
Morka was responding to the resignation of the PDP’s candidates for chairperson in the AMAC and Bwari Area Councils in favor of their All Progressives Congress (APC) opponents in the just finished FCT Area Council election.
He maintained that because the Minister is a Nigerian citizen, he is protected by the constitution and can back anybody he chooses.
Nyesom Wike has the intrinsic freedom to continue advocating for any candidate in any party, according to Morka.
“Wike is a Federal Republic of Nigeria citizen with constitutionally protected freedom. He is free to back any candidate he chooses.
“He has the freedom to participate in our democracy, to hold his own opinions, to voice them, and to take legal action to support them.
“It’s not about Wike’s relationship with the APC; rather, it’s about his beliefs and his perspective on his rights as a citizen.”
