Ward and LG Congresses Are Rescheduled by Abia APC Following Crisis Resolution

After the exercise was halted last week due to internal disputes, the Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC) has set new dates for its Ward and Local Government congresses.

The Abia APC caucus said in a statement that the Ward Congress would now take place throughout the state on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as originally planned.

The date of the Local Government Congress is set for Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The party clarified that the congresses’ previous suspension was intended to ease internal conflict inside the state chapter.

The statement claims that the action has produced favorable outcomes and that stakeholder unity has been restored.

The caucus stated that in order to guarantee a rancour-free procedure, the decision to postpone the exercise was made in good faith.

It said that peace had been reached, making it possible for this week’s conferences to go forward as scheduled.

March 3 is the date of the State Congress.
The State Congress will proceed as planned on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the party further affirmed.

Party leaders expressed hope that the upcoming congresses will fortify the party’s structure throughout Abia’s wards and local government districts and solidify unity.

According to Naija News, the move coincides with ongoing rumors that Abia State Governor Alex Otti might be thinking about joining the APC in order to run for a second term in 2027.

Ferdinand Ekeoma and Dodoh Okafor, the governor’s media assistants, have denied the reports, stating that the alleged defection is untrue.
