According to local police on Tuesday, Jill Biden’s ex-husband has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of his current wife at their Delaware home in December.
From 1970 until their divorce in 1975, William Stevenson, 77, was wed to Jill Biden. In 1977, Jill Biden wed Joe Biden, the former president.
According to New Castle County Police in Delaware, Stevenson is charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of his wife, 64-year-old Linda Stevenson, on December 28.
He failed to post $500,000 cash bail, which led to his arrest on Monday and his continued incarceration.
When police responded to a report of a domestic altercation at the couple’s Wilmington home soon after 11 p.m. (0400 GMT) in December, they discovered Linda Stevenson unconscious in her living room.
She was declared dead after life-saving attempts failed.
Linda Stevenson’s cause of death and more information regarding the investigation were not disclosed by the authorities on Tuesday.
According to her obituary, Linda Stevenson was “deeply family-oriented and treasured time spent making memories, especially on family vacations with her daughter and granddaughter.”
She used to own an accounting company and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
The obituary stated, “Linda will be remembered as tenacious, kind-hearted, and fiercely loyal.”
“Everyone who knew her will deeply feel her absence, and her strength, resiliency, and unwavering love for her family and friends will never be forgotten.”
