Abia starts to demolish and rebuild the College of Health Sciences.

As part of its ongoing reform of state-owned postsecondary institutions, the Abia State Government has announced that demolition and restoration work at the Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, Aba, will start this week.

Njoku Ukoha, the governor’s chief press secretary, revealed the situation in a statement on Monday.

The majority of the college’s buildings, which are “over 70 years old” and in “dilapidated” condition, will be demolished and rebuilt in order to give students a better learning environment, according to the statement.

Ukoha stated in the statement, “A few days ago, I published the current dilapidated state of the Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, Aba.”

He clarified that the intervention is in line with Governor Alex Otti’s pledge to restore and renovate all of Abia State’s state-owned higher education establishments.

“Demolition will begin on site within the week as part of Governor Otti’s commitment to recover and remodel all state-owned tertiary institutions, and the majority of the college’s over 70-year-old dilapidated structures left in ruins and despair by previous administrations will be reconstructed to create a better learning environment for the students,” the statement stated.

In order to give the public a sense of how the institution would appear once it was finished, Ukoha continued, visual prototypes of the planned structures were also made public.

“Look! “When finished, the college prototype,” he said.

The message included a list of more postsecondary institutions that the Otti government is currently transforming.

Ukoha claims that Abia State University in Uturu is “under massive rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction,” while the Abia State College of Education (Technical) in Arochukwu has been “completely transformed.”

Additionally, he mentioned that the permanent location of Abia State Polytechnic in Aba is undergoing “massive construction in preparation for relocation,” while the interim building has been altered.

The announcement further stated that the Abia State University Teaching Hospital in Aba is presently “under massive construction and upgrading.”

According to Ukoha, the state government’s larger initiative to end years of neglect in the education sector and reposition public institutions for better academic standards and service delivery includes the renovation of the College of Health Sciences, Aba.
